Flare- add flare to your visualizations

Flare from Visualization lab at UCB is an excellent ActionScript library for your Flex data visualizations. They have provided a lot of code samples and demos, complete with a tutorial. I’m still struggling to get the hang of Flex and ActionScript. Those who are familiar should find it a cakewalk to integrate flare into their visualizations.

They have interesting visualizations for layouts: circle, tree, radial, dendrogram, bubbles, circlepack, icicle, indent etc. A few of them look complicated, though extremely beautiful. Sometimes beauty is just not enough to convey meaning. My favorite is their sample application: Job Voyager. It is interesting to see how much data can be fit into stacked time series.  Here are some tips on customizing this visualization by flowingdata.com.
